Strings concert 

This morning Grades 4, 5 and 6 Cello and violin students performed a concert for Grades 3-6 in the gymnasium. What a fabulous performance. A huge congratulations to string students and staff for their hard work and dedication this year. You sound amazing

Bike to School Day 

Bike to School Day was held yesterday, June 8th. Students rode their bikes, scooters, skateboards or rollerblades to School. We had 154 Westmount students participate in total. The three classes that had the most students participate were 1Mullenger at 58% student participation, 2/3Blandford at 65% student participation and 3/4Doucette at 54% student participation. Way to go!

Bike to School Day 2017 – It’s a Challenge!!

HRM Bike week (June 2-11) is an opportunity to promote bicycle safety and inspire students to ride as part of a healthy and active lifestyle. Westmount school is excited to be taking part in it, and would like to invite all families to join us in this celebration by encouraging students to ride their bikes to school on Bike to School Day –scooters, skateboards, in-line skates are also welcome!

Our Bike to School Day Challenge will be on Thursday, June 8. Our rain date will be Monday, June 12.

All students who participate in Bike-to-School Day will get a chance to win one of ten $10 gift cards (courtesy of HRM) or, if their class has the highest participation, one of the two $25 gift cards from MEC-Mountain Equipment Coop!!

Attached is a handout on proper helmet fitting, basic safety information and signaling that we invite you to review with your child.

Multicultural Day

Westmount community participated in our annual Multicultural Day. In the morning, students from grades Primary to 6 presented a fashion show which highlighted traditional clothing from various cultures. We also viewed a Ramadan presentation.

In the afternoon, Squid visited us and rocked out in the gymnasium, playing a variety of tunes on drums and bagpipes. It was so much fun!

Spring Fair Fun

Thank you to our WSA and the many volunteers who helped organize and execute a successful spring fair on Saturday. It was a great seeing so many gathering as a school community and having fun. Take a peek below at Mr. MacRae, Mrs. MacInnis and Mrs. D’Eon getting in on the fun.

String Night at the Forum

This evening Westmount string students will join hundreds of students from grades 4 through 12 to perform at Halifax All-City Music’s annual String Night at the Forum. This amazing musical presentation is produced to highlight the hard work of the students, music educators and community.

Students participated in a dress rehearsal this morning. Here are the Grade fours rehearsing.

5M witnesses unveiling of Artists work

Halifax artist Kyle Jackson unveiled his painting at Halifax Shopping Centre this past Monday. The unveiling kickoffed the mall’s Canada 150 celebrations.

Grade 5 MacRae students School was present to witness the unveiling of the painting.
